When Prayer Works
On Friday, my wife and I received word that one of our good friend’s dad had suffered an aneurism in his heart. He went to the hospital for having pains resembling that of a kidney stone. By the time he got to the hospital, his complexion was completely gray. Upon inspection, they discovered that his aorta had burst. They care-flighted him to a better hospital where they would keep him at closer inspection. Surgeons repaired the damage to his aorta. Absolutely nothing else was wrong with his heart. It was then discovered that he was still losing blood, so they prepared him for a second surgery where they repaired a leak that was overlooked. He also needed a blood transfusion. The doctors told the family that most people wouldn’t have even made the flight to the hospital, let alone two surgeries to repair his aorta. He’s been sedated this entire time, but briefly woke up for a short period of time. Much too weak to talk, he wrote on a piece of paper, “God is good”.
I am positive that he is alive because he was covered in prayer.
God is indeed good.

Hallelujah =)
I will pray for an equally miraculous recovery for him!
I had a Pastor who died of that very thing. By the time I got to the hospital, he was already dead. I’m glad you’re friend survived.
@musterion99 - I guess your pastor was not “covered in prayer” enough.
@Lovegrove - What a silly statement but not unexpected coming from you. We’re all going to die no matter how much someone prays. It was his time to die.
@musterion99 - Exactly. I agree. I was actually talking to jmallory about his ending statement. I thought I’d point that out to you, seeing as you seem to have missed it. jmallory didn’t miss it, I’d bet on that.
@Lovegrove - You replied to me, not jmallory and said my pastor, insinuating my pastor died because he wasn’t covered in prayer enough. Meh…. you’re just being a troll.
@musterion99 - Of course I replied via you.That’s only polite.You wrote it.
@Lovegrove - If you’re not being a troll, you weren’t very clear and you’re still not very clear. You replied to me and said you were talking to jmallory. ??? What exactly were you saying to jmallory by replying to me?
@Lovegrove - God causes the sun to shine and the rain to pour on both the righteous and the unrighteous. But all good things must be attributed to God, the source of all good things. Yes, both people were completely covered in prayer, I’m sure.
@canadiansrock - It’s very much appreciated! Thanks! Hallelujah for sure!
@musterion99 - He is one of the greatest, nicest people I know. If he’d had passed, it would have been a great tragedy. All in God’s time
Oh,and glad your friend is doing well.It just means God still has plans for him here weither God healed him without a Dr or used the Dr to heal him.
@Rescued_by_grace - He’s another one who likes to troll Christians.
@musterion99 - It’s mighty sad.
I am sorry your friend’s family is going through such sadness, but what a lovely witness to read what he wrote when he woke up briefly. I liked that. That man was strong in his faith and let it shine through.
@jmallory - I know of a man who told me he had a nissan truck that never started when he needed it. He was in the mission field in the Dominican Republic. An older missionary told him to pray for his truck to run because he needed it. He thought that was a little odd, but admitted he needed the truck for his ministry, so he prayed for his nissan to start & it did. No mechanics, just answered prayer.
@saturnnights - I agree that these things do happen. I was simply making the point that you can’t compare an automobile to a human being, and a mechanic to a doctor.
I was friends with this really stoic priest a few years ago.
He had terminal cancer but didn’t tell anyone he was going to die.
So there we were for months, praying our little hearts out expecting a full recovery.
I felt really foolish when he died all of a sudden.
@jmallory - I get that, but it works with mechanical things too. I had the exact model with similiar issues, but I laughed & never tried to pray for my truck… I sold it, to a former drug-dealer, turned minister. He was driving it for years after.
@ImNotUglyIJustNeedLove - Why should you feel foolish? Is God’s hand not at work even in death?
@jmallory - If I pray for the sky to turn green, I’m a fool.
If I had known the priest was terminally ill I would have been able to conform my prayers to reality.
@ImNotUglyIJustNeedLove - That makes more sense… but is it wrong to pray for a miracle?
@jmallory - Exactly! We were deprived of praying for a miracle.
@ImNotUglyIJustNeedLove - Got it. That makes sense.
@jmallory - I think a lot of people were praying for a miracle for your friend’s dad.
You people have some powerful prayer mojo.
God is indeed good
Love it! This reminds me of a testimony by a visiting pastor- Ps Ray Macauly at last sun svs. He felt some pain on his chest while doing some interviews during the world cup yrs ago and so his gp arranged for him to be checked and found, he had 12 blood vessels that broke round his heart, and was amazed that he’s even alive and because he needed to be operated on right away, he was allowed to make just one phone call. The surgeon was an unbeliever and as he was wheeled in, the pastor took the surgeon’s hands and placed them on his heart and prayed and asked jesus to annoint his hands, and during the surgery, he was bout to close up the body, as there was not much he thought he could do, he heard a voice to carry on.. It’s been documented in the medical places as a medical miracle… After the surgery, he was in coma and the survival of chances sank below 5% but each day he got better, he’s apparently the only person alive and healthy at the same time, 7 ppl survived but are brain dead. So amazing!!! Thks for sharing.
