NO!
When I was in kindergarten, I didn’t understand the whole “strangers” thing.
I remember coming home from school one morning after learning about saying “no” to strangers. When I got home, I went to the backyard to play. My house at that time, was right next to a “used car” dealership. As I was playing, I saw the man who owned the dealership come around the corner with two prospective buyers. I came up to our fence that separated my yard from the parking lot, I leaned up against it and started yelling “NO!”
I still remember the disconcerting looks on their faces.
No! No! No!
I yelled it repeatedly until my grandparents called me in to take my nap.
Later that night, my dad asked me what I did that day.
“I said ‘no’ to strangers!” I explained.
Needless to say, my dad was alarmed and asked me to tell him a little more. So I told him that I saw some strangers next door and I told them “no”.
It finally clicked in my dad’s head that I didn’t seem to understand what it meant to say “no” to strangers. He sat me down and we had a long conversation about what a stranger is, and how not all strangers are bad.
I think I finally got the hang of it
. I still have trouble talking to strangers though.

You must have been a real handful for your parents!
@LoBornlytesThoughtPalace - I was the easy one!
@jmallory - Are your parents still alive? And if they are, are they still sane?
@LoBornlytesThoughtPalace - Well, I rarely talk to my mom. She was never around when I was growing up, so she’s automatically out of the picture. My dad, on the other hand, raised me to be just like him… but then God had… different plans for me.
Both of my parents are completely sane, despite the fact my dad raised a very loving, all for God, anarchist.
I love that story
NOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe you were prophesying to the prospective car buyers!
Great post….
@Kristenmomof3 - Thank you. I kind of forgot about it until a couple months ago. I laughed and started to write it, but lost motivation… I finally got around to writing it again.
@CitizenDon - I considered that. I guess I’ll never really know…. haha
@BarryDadof3 - Thank you.
